An acrostic (say ‘a-cross-tick’) is a type of poem. It can have any number of lines. Acrostic poems might be written to tell a story, to talk about an experience or to explain how you feel.
If you look at the first letter of every line of the poem, they will spell out a word.
Helpful facts:
Acrostic poems do not have to rhyme.
Every line of an acrostic poem should start with a capital letter.
Sometimes, poets sneakily hide the secret word in other places, such as by using the last letter of each line.
