This is a useful KS3 activity that can reinforce basic algebraic structure such a collecting like terms, multiplying brackets and division.
It involves the classic 'I think of a number, double it....' tricks and introduces the use of algebra to show how they work.
It can then be extended to allow the pupils to generate their own tricks.
