Collecting like terms match up resource
Designed for both KS3 and KS4 maths students, this resource is a fun match up activity where students match a three or four term expression to the simplified solution.
Terms are in x, x^2 and constants, including both positive and negative. There are also some helpful opportunities for teachers to pause and address potential misconceptions, for example that x and x^2 are not like terms.
Useful to check and align accurate algebraic skills, there is an answer sheet included which can be explored as a whole class or can be used as a pair or self assessment reflection opportunity.
How to use this resource
This flexible resource can be used at any stage during KS3 or KS4 to reinforce like terms understanding or to deepen knowledge during revision periods. The game-like nature of this activity lends itself to a group or pair competition in class or is also ideal as a homework task.
