Introducing students to Emily Dickinson

An introduction to the poet, Emily Dickinson, along with tips for approaching her poems. Suitable for higher attaining GCSE students or those interested in reading more broadly to explore context, word choices and syntax. Activities include: a first reading of 'Hope' is a thing with feathers' and comparisons of Dickinson's poems with William Blake's 'The Poison Tree' and with a Walt Whitman poem.
