How to use this resource
Start with the opinion cards to build students' understanding of the debate around strikes and demonstrations. Students can work in pairs or small groups to categorise the statements, explain their reasoning and place them on an opinion line to assess the strength of each argument. This preliminary work gives them the vocabulary and ideas they need to tackle the speaking card with confidence. The additional questions work well as extension material for more able students or as a research task to deepen understanding of the Gilets Jaunes movement before attempting the speaking card.
